Goals

The activities of the proposed Center of Excellence for Classical and Quantum Interactions in Nanoworld (ECCQIN) are focused on an interdisciplinary experimental and theoretical research of an unexplored area between the classical and the quantum physics, and the linear and the nonlinear physics. These activities will exploit the interaction between light and a kinetic state of an object – a trapped and cooled single ion or nanoparticle.

Project strategy

Addressing the topic in two challenging counter-directional activities:

  • Quantum towards Classical (Q2C): quantum mechanical interaction with trapped ions,
  • Classical towards Quantum (C2Q): nonlinear mechanical interactions with trapped nanoobjects.
